It’s official! Holiday season is here and girl you better have yourself a cute dress hanging in your closet for at any given moment someone might request your honor at a holiday party or gala . If you’re like me you don’t normally have a gorgeous cocktail dress or gown sitting in your closet waiting for the perfect invite, so upon invitation you start hyperventilating at the mere thought of dress shopping. Add a last minute invite to that and now your also dealing with anxiety, que désastre!
That was me the day after Thanksiving, after I found out that I was not selected as the 2013 Latino Trendsetter Awards Red Carpet Correspondent but was kindly offered a personal invite instead. The dress code for the gala is “creative black tie”, which means you can be trendy but in a gala/formal style. I quickly got to work looking for the perfect dress since the event would be coming up four days.
I knew that I wanted a gown versus a cocktail dress because lets face it, they are just so classy and make you feel so glamorous. I also knew that I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on my dress since the month of December always forces me to be on a tight budget due to my crazy holiday season spending. Most of the time when you spend money on special occasion dresses you never end up wearing them again anyway, especially if you were photographed a lot.

Check out my curly to straight video below and don’t forget to comment, like and subscribe!

This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Unilever and Latina Bloggers Connect. All opinions expressed below are truly my own.
Although we may not have access to the red carpets we see our favorite divas walk on, there is no reason why we cannot look and feel just as fabulous as them at all times. Our busy lives tend to take over and we forget how glamorous we can feel by just taking ten minutes of our day to do our makeup, hair, or even spritz a little perfume.
Personally, I always try to look red carpet ready because on any given day I could be at school one minute and then be rushing to cover an event for my blog the next. My secret to a red carpet ready look besides fabulous hair, has and always will be makeup! I always play up any outfit I’m wearing by giving good “face” and making sure my makeup is on point. After all, your face is the first thing people look at when you walk into a room so why not make sure it looks amazing?
On Saturday, November 9th I attended celebrity makeup artist Sheika Daley’s Master Beauty Series class and I left speechless!
I have actually been a fan of Sheika’s work for a couple of years now, I just didn’t know she was the mastermind behind all of these flawless looks! Do you recognize any of these bomb looks below?
Yes, all of these looks were created by the one and only Sheika Daley. This alone is more than enough to show you the kind of high caliber work she does. Since the start of X-Factor I have been glued to the TV just to take a look at Kelly’s perfect makeup. Naturally, Sheika is the master mind behind Kelly’s doll face that we all just can’t get enough of. I love when artist use makeup to enhance someone’s natural beauty versus caking it on and completely altering one’s appearance. This is apparent in Sheika’s work and one of the reasons why I am obsessed with her.
When I saw a post on Sheika’s Instagram stating her plans for a Master Beauty Series class I knew I had to gather my coins and attend this class. Thankfully I had money aside from the last makeup class I hosted and I wasted no time in signing up. November 9th couldn’t come fast enough!
Last week I was invited to attend a seminar at Yager Esthetics. I live very close by and have always wondered about the type of services they offered, so I decided this would be a great opportunity to get better acquainted. The free educational seminar focused on spider and varicose veins, with an in depth discussion on the subject and a live demonstration.
Spider and varicose veins are a very common condition, often embarrassing and causing even the most confident women to feel conscious. Spider veins are small and usually lie just under the surface of the skin. They appear blue, purple, or red in color and are found mostly on the legs. Varicose veins are bigger and more apparent than spider veins. They tend to bulge or twist and can appear anywhere on the body although they most commonly appear on the legs. Spider veins affect around half of all adult women and can be painful for some. During the seminar I learned something shocking – crossing your legs often causes spider veins. This is going to be one hard habit to break, especially since I cross my legs, a lot!
Finally the day is here! I am so excited to tell you guys about this amazing contest I have had the pleasure of putting together with Brianne Chappell from the Justice and Soul Foundation.
I meet Brianne at the Inaugural Beauty Maven Circle Mixer hosted by Genevieve Santos of 360beautymaven.com back in September. When we were introducing ourselves she spoke of the Justice and Soul Foundation and her plans to move to Cambodia and help the foundation as a volunteer. I was so intrigued and inspired by Brianne’s passion for this organization that after the mixer I pulled her aside and asked her for details of the foundation and what I could do to help. She informed me that they were in need of funds for their program in Cambodia and I suggested hosting a giveaway on my blog to aid in fundraising. Brianne was all for it and was able to reach out to her colleagues in the beauty industry to gather prizes for our giveaway.
